Today, I’m bringing you a look inspired by Paramore’s “Hard Times” music video! As a Paramore fan for about 10 years, this album definitely made me nervous. I’m so happy that while they moved towards pop music, the quality did not falter. Anyway, I decided to create a look based on Hayley William’s outfit in the video consisting of Guess two toned overalls that almost everyone I know was dying for! They are now unavailable at Urban Outfitters, but I feel I achieved a similar white and black color-block feel. I simply paired black overalls with a white ribbed tank, and these black and white boots. While Hayley wore some classic checkered Vans, I decided to go with a heel to dress it up. I thought the retro look of my Warby Parker glasses went great with this look. For a true recreation, pair this look with a white backpack, Vans slip-ons, and sunnies!

So if you are really active on fashion instagram accounts, you may have seen a lot of people wearing this top. This one from Zaful looks exactly like a designer top that runs for around $100. A lot of people are picking up on this dupe because it is trendy, yet not worth $100 for such a small piece of fabric. This is a really daring piece because of how cropped it is, but I decided to give it a try because I think it is so fun for certain occasions. I toned it down with some high-waisted trousers from Brandy Melville and an oversized denim jacket. This trousers are “one size” but they are surprisingly stretchy and comfortable. I’m so sorry I didn’t realize I cut out my shoes in most of these pictures (the struggle of taking your own pictures! haha) but these sandals add a fun touch because the straps go horizontal like the top, and contrast the vertical lines of the pants. I just thought it was a cool concept to play with. This is definitely a top I would reserve for beach trips with high waisted shorts or going out with high waisted pants. It’s always fun to be a little daring, just choose when it is appropriate to do so! Thank you so much for checking out my blog! Please feel free to like and share with anyone you think would enjoy!

I am loving the spring and summer trends that I am seeing this year! Two trends that are here to stay: embroidery and exposed shoulder! This bag was calling my name. It is the perfect size and exactly my style. It is easily transitional through all the seasons, even if it is black. So, it is the perfect bag for me! Exposed shoulder includes cold shoulder or off-the-shoulder tops. This top is also great because it is almost in between the two, and I’ve worn it so much already. It is meant to be a little wrinkled, so minimal steaming is required. I don’t really buy anything that requires a lot of steaming or ironing, as I would much rather spend money on pieces that are easy to throw on. This is a unique cold shoulder top because it just loosely ties around the arm. It looks put together but effortless at the same time. It looks great with ripped mom-jeans as well! I just kept the bottom simple with black skinny jeans and black platform boots. I love incorporating edgy pieces with more feminine pieces, especially for spring and summer! I hope you guys enjoyed! Life has been a bit crazy- finishing up this semester with 7 classes, tax season, work, planning to buy a car…
Working on getting more posts up soon! Have a fantastic day ❤
Okay, I’ll admit I’m just a bit obsessed with these glasses, but can you blame me? Anything that makes a statement like these is good in my book. I’m stocking up on colors for spring and summer, and these add a little drama to whatever you’re wearing. I’ve also been loving this bathing suit lately, and I’ve been wearing it as a bodysuit as well. The neckline is flattering and acts as a good base for any outfit. To match the drama on top, I paired these ripped jeans with silver, crushed velvet boots. I love adding hoodies because they are casual and dress down any outfit.

Spring has sprung, and my spring break did not feel long enough! I’ve complied 4 outfits from my trip to Kauai, so be sure to scroll to see all of the looks! I think this is a good round-up because I have included a trendy and comfortable airport look, a casual beach day look, and two more dressy looks, simply because I love both of these yellow dresses.
Lets get to the outfits…

Look #1
||Sports Bra – Calvin Klein|| Mesh Top – Free People ||Leggings – Gymshark || Fuzzy Slippers -Qupid ||Sweatshirt – Thrasher||
Obviously, comfort is key when traveling, so I kept it simple with my favorite black leggings and my Thrasher sweatshirt that literally no one can get me out of. I made sure to wear a thin top under the sweatshirt so I wouldn’t be too hot upon arriving to Kauai. These slippers were so comfortable for the airport and so convenient during security. Make sure to keep socks in your carry-on if you are perpetually cold on airplanes like I am!

Look #2
|| Dress – Free People || Jacket – Zara || Sunglasses- Forever21||
I think this dress speaks for itself. It is so beautiful and comfortable. The neckline actually stayed in place very well, so it was a very easy piece. I roughed it up a bit with this great shredded jean jacket. This was a great look for dinner and walking around the town.
I loved this look for exploring the island. I decided to show off my bikini top instead of a bralette and add a choker so this outfit would be comfortable, unique, and functional. As the days are not always planned to the minute, sometimes a spontaneous dip in the ocean is in order, and you have to be prepared!
Do not be fooled by its beauty! This is a romper! How perfect for vacation? I wore this last look to a luau and got so many compliments that I’m so grateful for. It could easily be dressed down with flat sandals, but it’s really long on my frame so I went with a comfortable wooden clog. I paired a complimentary colored bralette under to keep it family appropriate.
Thank you so much for checking out this post! I didn’t really post while I was gone because I decided to just keep it to one spring break look-book. Please let me know what you thought, and feel free to like and share with anyone you think would like this!
Lately, I’ve been loving the look of mixing metals. One easy way to do so is to mix it up with jewelry like wearing rings or necklaces of different finishes together. I decided to achieve the look differently by layering a silver chain belt over a metallic gold skirt. I love the edge and shape it gives to my lower half, and decided to keep it casual with a Led Zeppelin t-shirt and ankle boots. I think a good way to approach a piece that seems daring to you is to try to “play it down” with casual pairings. I tied the top to give myself more shape and added a bronzed metallic lip. I love this look, especially how the silver chain looks against the gold. Let me know what you think of this look! As I type this, I am currently in Kauai, so my next post will be a compilation of some outfits from my trip! Thank you so much for checking out my blog, and please feel free to like and share!
I am constantly torn between by love for edgy, rough looking pieces, and earthy, flow-y bohemian pieces. In the summer, I absolutely love dresses but they are often too girly. The trick I have found to combine these two styles is to find dresses in muted colors, and add some edge (I mean, what else is new?) If you’re not new here, you most likely already know my love for leather, chains, studs and platforms. I also love both feminine and tough silhouettes. This look is a perfect balance of the two for me. The dress becomes slightly wider around the hips, and tapers back in near the bottom. This is a great dress shape for anyone struggling to create the illusion of more shape. The print is girly and muted, allowing it to pair perfectly with a tough jacket.

I will be in Kauai in a week and will be posting one big post of some outfits from my trip! I’m trying my best to have some posts queued for during the trip! Follow me on instagram @jessandthreads for more fashion posts!
Zara has always been a store that drew me to their merchandise, but I never shopped there because my local Zara is a total wreck (and this is coming from a fellow sales associate). It tends to be stores that are reasonably priced that become the messiest for some reason, and it is impossible to shop in there. I finally ventured out to a different location and got really lucky with my findings! What a difference a maintained store can make!
Anyway, I’m done ranting about that. This outfit is exactly what I’ve been going for lately. I love being different, and this top is definitely different. Loud colors and graphics are a huge spring trend, as well as a flattering dramatic sleeve. This top has raw edges, which is helpful since I might crop it a bit more. I struck gold when I found these jeans! It is so hard for me to find jeans since my leg/hip and waist ratio are all out of whack haha. I absolutely love the fit and the discoloration at the bottom! I tend to prefer straight or flare pants with a higher ankle boot, so I broke out these trusty ones from JustFab. I’m always looking for ways to add unique little details to my outfits, so I through on a pair of fishnets to peek through the top and rips of the jeans.

Anyone else totally loving chain belts? They add the perfect edge to any look, and they are such a throwback. I personally prefer chain belts on a higher waisted pant. These jeans were simple black, high waisted jeans from Forever 21 that I cut up myself. I paired it with this satin camisole and a camo bomber jacket. I love the mix of textures, especially the chain against the feminine satin top. I finished of the look with a few silver chokers and my trusty black platforms. This is definitely a look I would wear on a night out or to a show. I hope you enjoyed this look! Please feel free to like and share!
Denim on denim can be pretty adventurous for most people, and it’s a trend that kind of moves in and out of style. I simply just love this look in spring because it is a way I can brighten up my wardrobe without experimenting with very much color! The trick is to use different shades of denim. This keeps it looking a bit more modern and less like a set. Another major trick to keep in mind is to give the look a break by letting some skin show, whether that is the ankles by using cropped jeans, or wearing a crop top or cropped denim piece. That is what makes all the difference, and this trick can be applied for working with any pattern or monochromatic look! I paired my vintage Levis and cropped denim jacket with a black and white striped long sleeve. I tied it to show some skin, and rolled up the ankle of the jeans. I kept it simple with some low-cut, leather Vans slip-ons. To pick up the white in the shirt a bit more, I also added a white lace choker. I hope you enjoyed this look! Thank you so much, and please feel free to like and share!
