Today, I am working Black Friday, as well as Small Business Saturday, and Sunday. Please pray that I make it out alive! Anyway I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving! This is what I wore during my Thanksgiving dinner, and I thought it was a great outfit to share because it is holiday-bloat-proof haha! I know most of us definitely indulge throughout the holidays, and sometimes tight holiday dresses are unforgiving. This jumpsuit sweater combo is so comfortable, and just the right amount of effortless.  I layered up on the jewelry because that’s what I do best, and threw my hair into a messy half updo, as I was going to be cooking. Since I don’t have a cropped sweater, I just tied this loose Brandy Melville sweater into a knot and it worked just as well. I think this jumpsuit would be especially cute with a cropped, boxy mock-neck sweater on top! Let me know what you think of the look! Please feel free to share with all of your friends ❤

Have a great weekend! I am so thankful for all of you and your support!

Red, Red Wine

Happy Saturday! Today, I’m bringing you an outfit I put together using some of my favorite pieces from Soto this season. This velvet blazer is a no brainer. I’ve barely taken it off the whole week because you can use it to spice up so many looks. I’ve also really been loving a retro vibe lately, so I love how my glasses pair with the blazer. The grey turtleneck is one that we can barely keep in stock. It’s flattering, soft, and elegant, is great for layering. We all know how much I love these jeans, and you can tell how much by all the blog posts I’ve featured these in! Lastly, this bag is everything haha. You can dress this up or down, and it holds just enough items. I hope you enjoyed this little insight on my favorite items from Soto! Make sure you’re following me on instagram @jessandthreads to see more of my outfits throughout the week, and follow Soto @sotoboutique to see all our new arrivals!
Thank you for your continual support! I will talk to you soon in my next blog post ❤

To say it’s been a crazy week since I last posted would be a huge understatement, and honestly, with everything going on in our country recently, I felt it was almost inappropriate for me to post during such a turbulent time. However, life goes on, and we must continue to do the things that make us the happiest we can be regardless of outside forces, which brings us to a new blog post today. I love blogging and I was so excited to create again!

I decided to test out a fall trend that I used to pretty much avoid at all costs: denim on denim. I did it subtly with black jeans a few posts ago, and decided to give it another go. I am still sticking with at least one piece that’s black denim just because I can’t seem to get two shades of blue denim to look right together, but that’s why I love experimenting with my closet. This is an ideal Friday night activity for me, guys. Anyway, I fell in love with this top the second we got it at work, and I immediately bought it because it’s so different and edgy. I’ve pretty much lived in it since! It’s still available at Soto, so if you love this top, pick it up before it’s gone! I tried to find a similar one online, but I came up short, so I found two that are the same color scheme and give off a similar vibe. These shoes are super old from Steve Madden. I love a good edgy platform, but I found an extremely similar boot in a low-heel version, which would definitely dress down this look. I kept the makeup very minimal and swaped my contacts for glasses (partially because I’ve had an irritated eye the past few days) to give this look an effortless edge.  As always, let me know what you think and feel free to share this post!

Remember to always be kind to one another and stick together during this time of uncertainty. I’ll talk to you guys soon ❤

Today, I felt a little daring, and I taking this post in a different direction. I want to share something with you all. Lately, I have been extremely hard on myself in every aspect of my life. I have not let myself accept any compliments or encouragement in any area of my life, including school, my blog, work, my physical appearance, etc. My grades are great, work is great, and I am picking my healthy lifestyle back up again. Yet, I am having a pretty hard time letting myself relax. I’m working very hard to stop that and build my self esteem back up. Keeping this in mind, I’ve discovered that one aspect of my life that I feel comfortable with is my ability to express myself through the clothes I wear. I have grown to frankly not care about what people think about my clothes, my style or my crazy love for fashion. Being complimented is not the reason I enjoy getting dressed in the morning, or creating blog posts. I have chosen to study fashion because it is something I feel like I am good at because I try to take risks. Sure, I’ve taken pictures for a blog post, then decided I didn’t like the outfit. This outfit in particular is very daring for me, so I felt it was appropriate to say that it’s okay to wear items that other people don’t like. I’m sure I’m probably the only one who loves these platform shoes, or holes in my sweater, or fishnet tights. That is perfectly okay. So don’t let other people’s criticisms hold you back in wearing whatever the hell you want to wear. Don’t let anyone’s negativity hold you back from anything, ever.

Thank you for checking out my blog, you guys are so awesome! I’ll talk to you soon.

Happy Halloween, you crazy kids! While today may be the last day for pumpkins and costumes, we’ve still got another month of fall left. Around this time of year, it’s fun to wear reds and natural tones (to match the changing leaves, if you will). I searched long and hard to find this sweater online with no avail, but I linked a similar piece above for you. I just love how cozy and woodsy this cardigan looks. I purchased this last year at Soto, and I remember telling customers, “This is everything about fall in one sweater!” I paired it with a beige mock-neck long-sleeve and simple ripped blue jeans. These boots were very inexpensive from Charlotte Russe and I thought the color was perfect. These colors make me very excited for fall. This would also be a great look for Thanksgiving- comfy and cute.

Thank you to Bobby the Snowman Christmas Trees & Pumpkin Patch for helping us out and letting us take pictures. If any of you are in Woodland Hills, they are awesome and you should stop by this holiday season!

I hope you enjoyed this fall outfit and thank you so much as always!

Mustard yellow is probably my favorite color to wear besides black. I can only ever make it work during the fall, so you can bet that I’ll be living in this color for the next month. I bought this sweater at Soto Boutique last year and I’m so happy I did. This is the perfect shade of yellow because it’s not too light and it’s not too brown. I recently love layering a mesh bodysuit under sweaters or long sleeve shirts. The turtle neck peaks out and I love rolling up the sleeves to show more of the mesh. As usual, I’m living in black jeans and black boots. I really wanted the sweater to be the focal point of the outfit. These boots are such as staple, as they are simple and comfortable, yet trendy because of the high ankle cut. I complimented the yellow with a warm, golden makeup look.  Thank you for checking out my blog! Please feel free to share!

Seeing Stars

Two separate trends I have been seeing everywhere this fall are blouses that resemble pajama shirts, and this simple star pattern. Well, I found a top that incorporates both, and I love it. The long collar and black piping of the top give it a relaxed, pajama feel. I wasn’t into this trend until I found this top because in combination with the star pattern, it’s a fun blouse that you can dress up or down. I paired it with black JustBlack boyfriend jeans, and black lace up heels from JustFab. If I had to look nice during the day, this is the kind of look I would gravitate towards. Add a black blazer to create a creative yet put-together look. I love outfits that bring life to a somewhat professional look. Depending on the setting, this outfit would definitely qualify.

I pretty much love anything that’s distressed, so when Soto started carrying these ripped sweats, I purchased them immediately. These joggers, also available in light grey, are edgy and unique. They allow you to make a statement with pajama-like comfort, and as a college student, that makes these a must-have for me. They are still available at Soto, but if you don’t live in Los Angeles, I found a similar pair online for you which is linked above. I decided to dress them up a bit by pairing them with this simple black crop top that my aunt gave me, a utility jacket, and these Balenciaga knock-off booties. I found another dupe for these that look very real, and I linked them above.

Shoes | Public Desire | here

Today, I bring you a typical outfit of mine that I would normally wear to school or even work. It’s simple and casual with a little bit of an edge due to these awesome platforms. Again, I have another purchase from Public Desire that I am extremely happy with. These are their Daria Platform Boots (also available in Faux Suede) which are still on sale on their website for only $20! They are so comfortable and have automatically become my favorite shoes. I’ve shamelessly worn them for four days straight. I also made an order on Boohoo.com a while back looking only for tops because I rarely buy tops. This burgundy cold shoulder is very comfortable and flattering, and extremely inexpensive. Burgundy is one of the big colors this fall, along with olive green. I layered an old hoodie from Victoria’s Secret under an oversized Hollister denim jacket to achieve a layered and cozy look. As usual, I am wearing my JustBlack jeans (I just love black jeans in cooler weather). I accessorized with a lace choker and my usual necklaces. I have to be very comfortable at school since my school days are so long, and if you haven’t noticed yet, I love pieces that add edge to any look.

I hope you enjoyed this simple and casual look! As always, please feel free to share, follow, and comment! I would love to hear your feedback! Thank you so much ❤

First of all, these shoes. Just look at them. Absorb the beauty.

I have been loving light grey during this transition weather. Crushed velvet is everywhere right now, and since I am a shoe addict (the first step is admitting you have a problem), it only made sense that I added these to my collection. These are from Public Desire, which has quickly become one of my favorite places to buy shoes from. Their selection is so reasonably priced, unique, and on trend. They have some of the coolest shoes I’ve seen in a long time. Be aware that these do run tight around the ankle, and there isn’t much of a platform, but they are still relatively comfortable!

Secondly, this is my new favorite way of cutting my graphic t-shirts. I might continue to distress this one a bit more, but this style of distressing is very on-trend right now, and is similar to the mock-choker trend. The idea is to wear a bralette that will show detail through the cutout. You could also wear a simple triangle bralette and let a necklace show through the cutout. The shirt I used is a Forebear t-shirt, my awesome guitar teacher’s previous band. Underneath I wore a web bralette from Suzette that is linked above. I finished off the look with a leather jacket and black high-waisted jeans.

Let me know what you think of this look! Please feel free to share this post, follow and comment! Thank you as always!
