Let’s just be honest with ourselves- we now love dressing up just to go to the grocery store. After being stuck inside for almost a year, the essential market run has become our runway, and it’s one of the only times we get to show off any clothes we bought online in isolation boredom (or emotion, maybe both.) Half the fun of putting together outfits is getting to live our lives in them. Here’s an outfit that was probably too much for the errand I was running, but made me feel good!

Pastels for spring are nothing new, but every year it’s fun to find new ways to incorporate it into your current style. I bought these lilac high top Vans from a good friend and I’m in love with them. They are the perfect hint of pastel without being too feminine. They look great with these year’s biggest denim trend: wide leg denim. You could always go for a straight leg or slight flare if wide is too much for you. Being 5’2″ I normally wear these jeans unfolded with a heel, but I love this relaxed look by folding them with a sneaker. My figure can easily get lost in wide pants to I paired them with a white buttoned cardigan and left the bottom open, which is another big trend from 2020 that will bleed into the new year. Leaving the bottom buttons undone gives me just enough shape so I’m not drowning. I threw this light grey/lilac coat on top, added my favorite thick silver hoops, and left my hair wavy. I went with a pastel green bag to stay in a similar tone, but a white clutch or mini shoulder bag would also look great.

So next time you have to leave the house (essentials only) give yourself a little extra time to get ready and be creative. It’s a little taste of normalcy that can go a long way!
See you soon,
Jess
